Privacy policy

This portal is devised for the purposes of enabling contributions by a person (“you”) to the programmes supported by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (“ANRF” or “we”).

Last updated 16 October 2026

This Privacy Policy deals with what we collect when you make a contribution, why we need it, and what we do with it. ANRF follows a strict data minimization approach, wherein minimal personal data is collected and stored, only for the purposes specified in this Privacy Policy.

01Who is responsible for your information

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation is responsible for personal information collected or received through this portal.

Questions about this policy, or about information held about you, can be sent to ANRF at support-donate@anrf.gov.in.

02What we collect

When you make a contribution, we collect:

  • Your name, address, phone number, and email address (Mandatory). This information is required to process your donation, issue receipts, comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations, and communicate with you regarding your donation.
  • PAN (Mandatory). This is required for the purposes of generating a certificate of donation for the contribution received from you. The certificate of donation is necessary to claim for deductions under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
  • OCI card number (Mandatory). This is required if you are an OCI cardholder.
  • For organisations: type of organisation, contact person, GSTIN, and CIN or LLPIN for companies and LLPs (Mandatory); and registration number, if any, and TAN (Optional). For an organisation, the name, address and PAN above are the organisation’s. These details are required to issue the receipt in the organisation’s name, including for its CSR records.
  • The programme you selected and the amount of contribution.

We do not collect, transmit or store card numbers, UPI credentials, CVV or one-time passwords at any point. Payment details are entered on the payment gateway’s own page and never reach our systems.

We also do not collect browsing history, location data, device identifier, behavioural analytics, or advertising or tracking information that can be used to identify you.

However, to understand how the portal is used, we count visits in aggregate: the page viewed, the type of device (mobile, tablet or desktop), the website or campaign that referred the visit, and how far through the donation form a visit reached. These are kept only as daily totals, on our own servers, without cookies and without your IP address or anything else that identifies you or links one visit to another. Visits from browsers that send a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal are not counted.

03Why we need it

The information collected/received through this portal is either processed on the basis of your consent or as necessary for compliance with applicable law, for the following purposes:

  • To process your contribution and confirm it succeeded;
  • To issue a receipt and support a claim for deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961;
  • To answer your queries;
  • To meet accounting, audit and other statutory obligations requiring record-keeping;
  • To analyse data for our internal use regarding the donations made by users;
  • To contact you about the contribution and the programme it supports, where you have agreed to such communication.

04Who else sees it

We share personal data only where necessary for the processing of the contribution or where required under applicable law, as follows:

  • Our payment gateway and bank. This is to enable processing of the transaction and settling of funds. The payment gateway and the bank receive your name, email and phone number as part of the payment request.
  • Tax and regulatory authorities. This is to comply with obligations under applicable law, including reporting requirements associated with Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
  • Auditors and professional advisers. This will be undertaken under a duty of confidentiality.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for the purposes of advertising, marketing, or tracking.

05Anonymous contributions

Choosing to give anonymously means your name will not appear in any public acknowledgement of donors.

It does not mean the contribution is anonymous to ANRF. We will still store and retain your details to issue a receipt, answer queries, and to meet other statutory obligations.

06How long we keep it

Records of contributions are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it is collected, or as required by applicable law, including for dispute resolution, auditing or compliance.

07How it is protected

  • All traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS;
  • PAN details and other sensitive fields are encrypted at rest;
  • Personal information is never written to application logs, which record only a transaction reference;
  • Access to donor records is restricted to authorised personnel only;
  • Data is hosted in India and not transferred outside India.

08Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct anything inaccurate in such personal data held about you;
  • Stop contacting you about programmes and appeals;
  • Delete your information, so far as we are not required to retain it for statutory purposes.

Write to support-donate@anrf.gov.in with your request and a transaction reference where you have one.

09Cookies

This portal does not use advertising or tracking cookies and does not profile visitors.

The payment gateway may set cookies of its own on its pages, which are governed by its privacy policy and not this one.

10Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

Contributions already made continue to be governed by the policy in force at that time.
